Since 1960, the Cholera Research Laboratory (CRL) and its successor ICDDR,B has been recognized as the leading international health research centre located in a developing country. CRL conducted research that now forms the core of the world’s knowledge of diarrhoeal diseases, and led to the development of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS).
Over the years, the Centre’s hospitals have provided treatment free of charge to over 2 million patients, the vast majority of whom come from the poor and disadvantaged sections of society. It is estimated that of these, around 25% would die without the ICDDR,B facilities. Annually more than 100,000 people receive care at the Dhaka "Cholera Hospital". (Source: http://www.icddrb.org)
I was hired to teach two Manuscript Writing Courses, the first of which just finished this week.
The course commenced in March of this year with a special session including junior scientists and their supervisors advocating for a mentoring approach to the manuscript writing process. I facilitated group sessions covering key information on how to write each section of a manuscript and also addressing critical topics related to scientific writing such conducting a thorough literature review, using Endnote, recognizing and avoiding plagiarism, determining appropriate authorship, and choosing a suitable journal.
Here are the graduates from the course.
